Once again the River City Music Fest, sponsored by the Dayton Civic Activities Board, was a big hit. The day was beautiful, but very, very hot. Things started out slow due to the extremely hot weather, but towards the evening our fellow Daytonians made up for it and the crowd was great. Thank you for those who attended and purchased some great merchandise from our vendors. We have so many people to thank and we cannot extend our gratitude enough to each and every one of you who helped make this event so successful. We started the day with a beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, sung by Jerry Gifford. It was a goose bump performance!
We would like to extend a very special thank you to the following bands for donating their time and energy. Without them we couldn't do any of this: Overdrive, Lee Searcy and Taylor Mae, All-Seeing Eyes, Josh Wilhoit, Decoy and A Certain Concept, Strange Brew, DMT, Hurricane, Johnny and the Lugnuts and The Core. If you missed any of these performances, you missed a great time.
A super thank you to those Dayton businesses that participated by hosting a booth. It is great to see community involvement and we couldn't be more pleased.. Thank you, Trotta's Steak & Seafood, Hometown Heroes, Gents Consignment Shop, 6th Ave Hair Salon and Blue Ridge Simply Unique.
We would like to thank those who made cash donations to the event: David Imboden/DCI, Avenue Pharmacy, Woodcraft Manufacturing, Equipment Finance Group and Tom Hansel's Roadmen Motorcycle Club.
In addition, thank you to others that hosted a booth offering their unique items and making this one of the largest participated events; Ashley Decker, David Hayward, David Walker, Jennifer Mullins, Rick Frank, Let It Go Consignment, Kathy Ege, Kellie Slover, Lets Glow Crazy , Kathy MacDonald, John Hendrickson, Mary Hornsby, Jennifer Hedgespeth and Loveland Dairy Whip. Special thanks to The Purple Poulet for their generous donation of a gift certificate.

We cannot go without acknowledging and thanking Fran and Jerry Wetterich who ALWAYS step up to the plate by bringing a host of volunteers, donating hours and hours of time and always donating something special to the raffle booth. The board and its members are extremely grateful to have you both as a part of our events and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Last, but certainly not least, we could not pull off any of our big events without the help of Herman and Shane with City of Dayton Public Works department. Your help is always appreciated.
We are still selling T-shirts, and if you are interested you may contact any member via Facebook or call Donna Leger at the city building 859-491-1600. If you would like to be a part of this great group, our next meeting will be held at the former YMCA building at 2nd and Berry, July 20 @ 7:00 p.m. Come join us.
