The Dayton Main Street Board is a group of citizen volunteers working to build a vibrant central business district. As the Chairman of the Main Street Board I am proud of the work we have done this summer to advance this goal.
This spring we participated in the Catalytic Fund’s Picnic Table Project where NKY towns and organizations each painted a table to celebrate each individual community. A picnic with all involved was the culmination of this event and our Dayton table brought much needed TV coverage to our 'I 8 in Dayton' promotion.
All Dayton restaurants have participated in the “I 8 in Dayton’ program this summer in an effort to bring attention to our fast growing restaurant scene. It offered diners an 8% discount and a chance to earn a free Dayton t-shirt.
We wrapped up the summer with an old fashioned Dayton Community Picnic. The picnic featured a free concert by Moonshine and Wine with games, popsicles and concessions provided by the Eagles. Even though it was a little damp, with the help of the Eagles this event was a big success.
We are thrilled to be participating this fall in the Catalytic Fund’s Beyond the Curb neighborhood tour event. The tour will involve approximately six Dayton properties. This event is Sunday September 30th, 9-5pm and will bring interested visitors and potential buyers to our city for a fresh look around.
We are presently looking for additional board members, volunteers and interested citizens. We need your ideas and energy. If you would like to see what we're all about, please come to our next meeting on Tuesday September 25th at the old YMCA building where Berry meets the river. We hope to see you there, all are welcome.
One last note, we would like to thank retiring board member Bob Slusher for his many years of service to the Dayton Main Street Board, he will be missed.
