![]() The Main Street Advisory Board met last night at the Kersten O'Day VFW. This was the first Main Street meeting I have ever attended and I was impressed by the Main Street presentation given by new Main Street Director, Bob Yoder. Among topics of discussion were: 1.) Building upon the Music/Arts/Music vibe, as new board member Chris Mueller (Sofa Burn) and Scott Beseler (The Lodge) were in attendance. 2.) Finding ways to use the CCAP Program to incentivize vacant storefront property owners to rent/lease business spaces in our Central Business District. 3.) Ways of attracting more people to our city, such as making the CBD more bicyclist friendly by purchasing bike racks and placing them in strategic locations. 4.) Exploring the potential of the Raymee Building at Sixth and Berry. 5.) The importance of bringing in more businesses that will attract the hundreds of people who weekly visit our 2 marinas all summer long. 6.) Focusing as a group on projects instead of events. 7.) Holding a "Clean Up Main Street Day" in the very near future. The next Main Street Advisory Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on February 28 at a site to be announced. Meetings are open to the public.
