Dayton Independents Schools has hired Debbie Moore as the new Early Childhood Community Connector. What is that, you might ask? One of her jobs is to connect families in Dayton with available quality early childhood education. There are many opportunities available.
Since 90% of the brain is developed by age 3, it is important for children to have quality early childhood education. Home based services are available at no cost for children birth to 5. The school offers many choices for children who are ages 3-5: Preschool for all children who are 4 by August 1 and for qualifying 3-year-olds, Head Start for 3 and 4-year-old who qualify, and a blended 3 and 4-year-old preschool with Children Inc. that is a full day program (sliding scale fee, accepts CCAP). Did you know? According to our most recent Kindergarten Readiness numbers, students who attended preschool are 3 times more likely to be ready? Preschool Registration for the 2017-18 school is April 19, from 5:30-7 p.m. at Lincoln. If you have any questions or would like more information, please call Debbie Moore at 392-7015 or email debbie.moore5@dayton.kyschools.us.
