Dayton High School will be starting a Digital Conversion initiative, in the 2018-2019 school year, by issuing each student in grades 9 through 12 an Apple MacBook Air computer that they will be able to take home each night. High school students will have an opportunity to pick up their device with a parent during an information session a couple weeks before the first day of school on August 15th. Watch for details, the pick-up date and information session to be advertised on Facebook and our school website in July.
We see the need to better prepare our students for the 21st century and provide them the necessary tools to be successful. Students may have far less to carry back and forth to and from school each day. Perhaps more importantly, having technology available to each student in each classroom where learning is taking place will enable us to more effectively utilize it as a real-time instructional tool, providing students with the most up-to-date information and learning opportunities that would not be available otherwise.
Though middle school students will not carry laptops, they will be one to one and have access to computers in all of their classes with computer labs and laptop carts. Students will learn digital citizenship and have the opportunity to explore student technology leadership programs (STLP) as we launch DHS into the 21st Century!
