First, I want to congratulate all of this year’s graduates! The students, teachers, and everyone one at Dayton Independent Schools continue to do a great job!
Last weekend, I had the honor of walking in the 89th Annual Dayton-Bellevue Memorial Day Parade. I want to thank the Parade Committee as this was another great Memorial Day Parade! Also, I need to thank our public works department for all their hard work in getting the city ready for the parade.
As you may know, we are currently working on our Comprehensive Plan. A City’s comprehensive plan develops a community’s goals and aspirations in terms of community development. When complete the comprehensive plan both expresses and regulates public policies on transportation, utilities, land use, development, recreation, and housing.
You may have seen some of our city staff and volunteers out before the Memorial Day Parade asking people to take part in a survey for the comprehensive plan. We want your opinion, we have just released an online community survey for the comprehensive plan. If you’d like to share your opinion, we are asking everyone to take the following short survey at www.daytonky.com/survey/ (All survey responses are confidential).
Also happening this month, we will be installing decorative streetlight on the corners of Sixth Ave. and Walnut St, Sixth Ave. and Vine St., and Sixth Ave. and Ervin Terrace.
Don’t forget the annual Dayton Yard Sale is Saturday, July 21 and you can sign up by calling the city building or register online at http://www.daytonky.com/yardsale/.
