Happy New Year! There are a lot of great NEW things happening in Dayton! Last month, the new playground equipment was installed at our Vine Street Park, on the corner of Third Avenue and Vine Street. In the spring, we will be installing new sidewalks and landscaping. Vine Street Park is going to be a wonderful neighborhood park.
For those interested in the new City Building Project, the top three architect firms vying for the project will be presenting on their qualifications at a special Dayton City Council meeting starting at 6 PM on January 9, 2018, at Dayton Independent Schools Administration building at 200 Clay Street.
At the January Dayton Planning & Zoning meeting, a new 265 unit apartment complex at the Manhattan Habour site was approved. Tapestry at Manhattan Harbour is located on the east side of the development near the marina. This is an exciting project that will bring a lot of new residents to the city.
Another project is the new streetscape for 6th Avenue and the new sidewalks along Dayton Pike. GRW will be presenting the preliminary designs at the Dayton Main Street Meeting on January 30 at 7 PM.
Also, I hope you get to check out the new businesses opening this month along the 6th Avenue. They are: Bucks BBQ at 640 6th Avenue, Divine Waffles & Weks at 624 Sixth Avenue, and Dayton Vintage at 507 Sixth Avenue.
Until next month,
Mayor Virgil Boruske
