In the past year, seven new businesses have opened on Sixth Avenue: Hometown Heroes, Trotta's, Bucks BBQ, Devine Waffles & Wecks, The Salon & Brow Bar, Dayton Vintage, and Body of Art Tattoo's.
Something that is not quite as obvious is the growth in our industrial park. This time last year there was over 50,000 sq. ft. of space available. Today, there is only about 3,500 sq. ft. of vacant space available. Environmental Management Solutions has purchased the former Patriot Sign Building and moved their operations into the building. The former Hasco building was purchased, rehabbed and now houses several businesses including Consolidate Pipe. For the first time in several years, we're in discussions with business owners and developers about the possibility of new construction in the industrial park.
On the residential front we’ve had several historical houses rehabbed. Red Knot Homes has started construction on phase 1 of their Pottebaum Point development near 10th Avenue and O'Fallon Street. The Manhattan Harbour Gateway Site is halfway done with the construction of 76 high-end apartments and plans for a 14-acre multi-family apartment complex at Manhattan Harbour have been announced. Dayton continues to move forward!
