We hope that everyone had an enjoyable holiday season, and we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! We look forward to this New Year and the many great things that will take place in 2018 for our students of Lincoln Elementary.
The LES staff will continue to be committed in finding ways to enhance our current programs and strategies for our students, while also pushing ourselves to learn and implement new learning opportunities for all of them as well. We welcome our students’ families and our community members to LES to help us implement our district’s mission to Inspire, Engage, and Grow EACH of our students. We invite each of you reading this article to come and be a part of our school’s community. We promise that we will work with you to find a way to involve you in a way that you are comfortable with that will undoubtedly make a difference for our students. Please consider reaching out to us to become involved as a volunteer at Lincoln. We need YOU!
We want to thank everyone who joined us for our annual LES Holiday Program held on December 15th. We were so excited that over 400 guests joined our students and staff in the Dayton High School gymnasium for this fun-filled program that highlighted every LES student performing. We also want to thank the generous donors who contributed to our Family Resource Center during the holiday season. Our director, Mrs. Gina Byrd, worked tirelessly to ensure gifts of food, clothes, and toys were distributed to our students, which were only made possible due to your generous donations.
During this past month, our students also worked hard in their commitment to setting and meeting goals. Each student in grades K – 6 took their winter MAP benchmark test with many of them showing great progress. Along with the students’ report cards, the MAP progress reports will also be sent home on Monday, January 8th.
So many of our students also met their Accelerated Reading (AR) goals during this last quarter of school. Our students have already read over 10,033 books during the first semester of school. This is so impressive! The students in grades 2 – 6 will each be setting their AR goal in the first week back to school, so please make sure to inquire with your child(ren) about their 3rd Quarter AR goals.
Please continue to read the Dayton Community News for the amazing happenings ahead in 2018 for our students, families and community. We look forward to working together to build our school strong for EACH of our Little Devils!
