DHS/DMS project update!
We wanted to provide everyone with an update on the Dayton High School Construction Project that is getting ready to start, a 1.6 million dollar building project. There have been several questions asked about the status of the project and when it will be completed. The Board of Education accepted the bid for the project from Leo Brielmaier Co. on October 13. We met with their company and several of their sub-contractors last Thursday to discuss timelines and other details of the project. We are very excited to say that they will start the construction around November 14, 2016 and are expected to complete the project by July 1, 2017.
We want to remind everyone that funding for this project comes from state building funds that can only be used for building improvements. In 2013 we used this same pool of money to make 1.3 million to Lincoln Elementary School where we added a secure entrance, new floors, new restrooms, new Smartboard technology, new gym floor, and much more. See slideshow below:
We are happy to be bringing a Secured Entry Way to DHS, as this will help provide a safe and secured environment for our students and staff. Also, we are very happy about the changes that will occur for the New Art Room and Front Offices. Thirdly, the outside appearance of our High School/Middle School will change. We will be adding a lot of windows and glass doors to our building to help provide natural light and to make our school a more inviting place.
