Congratulations to Linda (Meyer) and Dave Shoemaker for being chosen as the Dayton Civic Activities Board Yard of the Month for September. Linda and Dave reside at 314 5th Avenue and have owned this cute little home for 38 years. They have been married for 42 years and have 3 grown children, Frank Sarah and Lisa with 8 grandchildren to enjoy. Linda is a life-long resident of Dayton and her husband Dave grew up in Newport.
What makes their home unique is the adorable cow sitting in their front yard, making it look like a cute country setting in a quaint little neighborhood. The story about how the Shoemaker's got their cow, as Linda will tell you, is she went on a retreat and asked her husband to buy her one of those little ducks that you sit on the porch. When she came home she was surprised to see a 300 pound cow on her front porch.
What a great sense of humor this couple must have! They recently moved it to the front yard so more people can enjoy it and it was recently brought to the attention of the Civic Club. So if you happen to ride by 314 5th Avenue, make sure you check out the Shoemaker's unique yard and give them a wave.
