This is a Test!
This is a test? What do you mean? We are not in school anymore. Our test days are done! Right? Wrong! We are put to tests every single day. It is totally up to us to pass them. How are we tested, you might ask. Let me give you an example: Going way back to the beginning with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, they lived in a beautiful place that was filled with many wonderful things. They had but one rule to follow, “Don’t eat the apples from that tree.” It would be easy enough to avoid one tree, right? In walks Satan. He tempts them and tells them how wonderful the apples are, what great color they have and how shiny they are. And God didn’t really say not to eat the apples. We know what happened in this test; Adam and Eve failed.
We are all put through these type tests every single day. When we are going through dark times, Satan pops up to derail us, to lead us to short cuts. These short cuts do not exist. We need to avoid Satan and stay the course, and have faith that God will lead us through the dark times. Temptations also show up right in the middle of good times. They can be so hard to avoid. Satan makes them look so appealing. We must keep our eyes toward God and we will come out on top.
Many times we do not pass the test the first time around. But God does not give up on us, but instead, he gives us second chances. Do not give up! This can be a test of character. Sometimes when temptations arise, we wonder what is God trying to do to us? This is Satan trying to trick us. Stay in faith! Love God with all your heart and you will pass the test!
In other news, 1st Presbyterian Church continues to be a blessing to the community. For the Super Bowl, our church collected over 650 pounds of non-perishable food for local food pantries. We would also like to invite you to our Good Friday events: At 4:30 we will walk with members to symbolize Jesus’ journey. At 5:30 we will hold a Pot Luck Dinner in Fellowship hall, followed by Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Please join us!
